Jai Hyuk (Jacob)

My work captures the vulnerability and the growth of my heart, both physical and emotional. My life has been a cycle of collecting cultures, packaging memories, and shoving emotions into the suitcase. Out of my will and control, just following parents’ footsteps without ever knowing my path or having the time to take a look around, I was packing my baggage over and over again. I had to constantly embrace the emptiness and confusion in my heart. Through my art, I was able to paint out my stories and slowly regain the love in my heart. My art & design portfolio is an examination of the change in my heart as I venture deep into the art world: the acknowledgement of my vulnerabilities to overcoming my weakness and discovering my true self.
